Kan ik oude Playstation games op mijn Nieuwe Console spelen?

Je vraagt je af hoe het zit met de backwards compatibility van je Playstation. Dit verschilt heel erg per console en daarom is hier ook niet één heel duidelijk antwoord op.

Backwards Compatibility

Backwards compatibility is, hoe we het in de game wereld noemen, het kunnen spelen van oudere games op een nieuwere console. Bij Playstation is dit nogal onduidelijk. Daarom hierbij een uitleg per console.

Playstation 1

Playstation 1 was er als eerste, dus daarom misschien wel vanzelfsprekend dat je hierop geen oudere games kan spelen. Je kan hierop ook geen games van bijvoorbeeld de Playstation 2 spelen. 😄

Playstation 2

Op de Playstation 2 kan je vrijwel alle games spelen van de Playstation 1. De Playstation 2 was daar eigenlijk ook voor gemaakt. Maar bij latere modellen is dit niet altijd het geval. 😪 De spellen waarbij je mogelijk problemen kan krijgen zijn:

Playstation 3

Helaas is het alleen met de Playstation 3 Phat - CECHCxx versie mogelijk om je oude Playstation 2 games af te spelen. Alle andere modellen hebben geen ingebouwde emulator om je oude Playstation 2 games af te spelen. 😢

Playstation 4

Bij de Playstation 4 is er helaas ook geen sprake van backwards compatibility. Op de Playstation 4 kan je alleen Playstation 4 spellen spelen en niet van oudere consoles. ❌

Playstation 5

Volgens SONY zijn Playstation 4 games bruikbaar op de Playstation 5, de Playstation 5 is dus backwards compatible met de Playstation 4. Je kunt je games die je gekocht hebt in de Playstation Store downloaden en op je Playstation 5 spelen. Ook kun je discs van je Playstation 4 spelen op je Playstation 5. 👌
